West Ham’s €10m Offer for Mario Stroeykens Rejected by Anderlecht

West Ham United have had a €10 million (£8.5m) bid for Anderlecht midfielder Mario Stroeykens turned down, according to Claret & Hugh. The Belgian club are reportedly holding firm, valuing the 20-year-old at double that amount.

Anderlecht Set Their Price

As reported by Claret & Hugh, Anderlecht were quick to reject West Ham’s opening offer. The club are sticking to their €20 million asking price and won’t entertain negotiations below that. Talks are said to be at an early stage, but the report suggests Stroeykens fits exactly the type of midfielder manager Graham Potter is after.

Club insider ExWHUEmployee has backed up the claims, confirming the Hammers’ strong interest, though stopping short of offering any detailed updates at this point.

Marseille Also in the Picture

Sport Witness reports that West Ham aren’t the only ones chasing Stroeykens. Citing Anderlecht-Online, they claim both the Hammers and Marseille made contact on May 15 to explore a potential transfer. That same report describes the Belgian U21 international as a top target for West Ham, with the club believed to be convinced by his potential.

Stroeykens made 39 appearances last season, scoring five goals and providing seven assists. His contract runs through to 2026, though there’s already speculation that Anderlecht may consider a summer sale if a new deal isn’t agreed.

Decision Now with West Ham

Claret & Hugh reports that it’s now up to West Ham’s board to decide whether to return with a better offer. The club might come back with an improved bid, possibly including structured incentives to hit Anderlecht’s valuation.

Neither West Ham nor Anderlecht have released any public statements so far, and for now, all movement remains based on reports coming out of Belgium, England, and France.
