West Ham United are reportedly one of several Premier League sides keeping tabs on Ipswich Town winger Omari Hutchinson, according to Claret & Hugh, who reference a story by the Daily Mail.
The 21-year-old, who played under Graham Potter at Chelsea, is said to be on Potter’s shortlist, though West Ham’s limited transfer budget might complicate a move.
Rising Interest in Hutchinson
Hutchinson is drawing interest from at least four top-flight clubs: West Ham, Everton, Fulham and Brentford. His performances for Ipswich Town this season have raised his profile, even as the club dropped out of the Premier League.
He made 31 league appearances, scored three goals and registered two assists. According to Sofascore, he also created six big chances and maintained an 84% pass accuracy while averaging more than 45 touches per game.
Everton are believed to be in a stronger financial position, while German sides Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are also monitoring his situation, per Claret & Hugh.
Valuation and Ipswich’s Position
Hutchinson recently rejoined the England Under-21 squad for their Euro semi-final against the Netherlands, having previously represented Jamaica at senior level. Ipswich signed him for a reported club-record fee of £20 million, following earlier spells at Arsenal and Chelsea.
With interest growing, Ipswich now reportedly value him at around £30 million. That figure mirrors Chelsea’s recent signing of Liam Delap, who also moved for £30 million. WestHamZone report Ipswich may be willing to sell if the right offer comes along.
West Ham’s Financial Roadblock
Hutchinson’s profile seems to fit what Graham Potter is after: pace, technical skill and versatility in forward areas. But West Ham’s financial situation stands in the way.
As noted by Claret & Hugh, the club may need to sell players before bringing anyone in. That puts a question mark on whether a deal can happen soon, or at all.
With other clubs circling, time could become a major factor. If West Ham don’t act quickly on outgoings, they could fall behind in the chase for yet another exciting young talent.
