West Ham United have reportedly made a move to sign former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham, as the forward prepares for a return to the Premier League following a mixed loan spell with AC Milan.
According to reports from Italy, the Hammers have “come forward” to express their interest in the England international, who spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Milan from AS Roma. Abraham managed just three goals in 28 Serie A appearances and struggled to recapture the form he once showed in the English top flight.
Despite those league struggles, the 26-year-old was more effective in cup competitions, notching seven goals in 15 games across the Coppa Italia, Champions League, and Supercoppa Italiana. However, AC Milan have reportedly opted against making the deal permanent, meaning Abraham is expected to return to Roma this summer – but not for long.
Premier League Return on the Cards
Abraham, who earns a reported £93,000 per week, is said to be open to a return to England after a four-year stint in Italy. Although his preference may be a move to a top-tier club, West Ham are believed to be in the running, especially with a clear need for attacking reinforcements.
Graham Potter’s side has endured a difficult season in front of goal. With Niclas Fullkrug scoring just three times in 18 league appearances due to injury, Michail Antonio out since Christmas, and Danny Ings set to leave the club, the Irons are lacking firepower. Abraham could offer the physical presence and Premier League experience Potter is looking for as he looks to rebuild ahead of next season.
Abraham’s Serie A Stats (2024/25)
- Appearances: 28
- Goals: 3
- Assists: 4
- Shots per game: 1.0
- Aerials won per game: 1.3
- Match rating: 6.48
His numbers suggest a player still finding his rhythm after injuries, but at just 26 years old, there’s room for revival. West Ham will hope that under new management and with better service, Abraham could rediscover his best form in Claret and Blue.
What Happens Next?
With the summer transfer window approaching and Roma unlikely to retain him, the door is wide open for a Premier League club to swoop in. West Ham’s interest appears concrete, but they may face competition if other English sides enter the race.
Still, the Hammers offer Abraham the chance to be a focal point in a rebuilding project under Potter – and perhaps the perfect environment to relaunch his career back home.
