Joe Gomez links resurface west ham

West Ham Are Still Tracking Joe Gomez?

West Ham are reportedly monitoring Liverpool defender Joe Gomez ahead of a possible summer move, according to LiverpoolWorld.

The 27-year-old England international is attracting interest from several clubs, with Leeds United and Everton also keeping an eye on his availability.

New Boss Potter Keen on Defensive Reinforcements

Graham Potter is looking to revamp West Ham’s defence after an underwhelming 14th-place finish in the 2024/25 Premier League season. The Hammers let in 62 goals and kept just seven clean sheets, so strengthening the back line appears to be high on the agenda.

Football Insider reports that West Ham are “huge admirers” of Gomez and are following his situation at Liverpool closely.

Former Premier League scout Mick Brown told the outlet, “If Liverpool decide to let him go, there will be a lot of clubs looking to bring him in. My sources tell me that Potter wants to strengthen at the back, and he sees Gomez as a good option.”

Liverpool Situation Remains Fluid

Gomez has been part of Liverpool’s squad since signing from Charlton Athletic back in 2015. With nearly 250 appearances under his belt, he’s currently the club’s longest-serving first-team player. He’s valued for his ability to cover both centre-back and full-back roles.

Last season, however, he was sidelined for four months with a hamstring injury and made only 17 appearances. He’s under contract until 2027, but questions remain over where he fits under new head coach Arne Slot. According to Football Insider, he’s seen as a reliable squad option behind Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté.

There could be other changes at Anfield that affect Gomez’s future. Jarell Quansah has been linked with a move to Bayer Leverkusen, and Liverpool are said to be keen on Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi. They’ve already brought in Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen, and reports suggest they’re close to signing Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.

Competition Heating Up

Any move for Gomez wouldn’t be straightforward for West Ham. Leeds United and Everton are also reportedly watching the situation, and Gomez’s experience and versatility make him a desirable target for teams looking to shore up their defence.

With Potter set to lead a rebuild in east London, adding a player of Gomez’s pedigree could be a big step forward. The coming weeks could prove decisive if Liverpool open the door to a transfer.
