West Ham Not Interested in Nicolas Jackson Transfer Despite Reports

Earlier claims suggesting West Ham United were targeting Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson have been proven false.

While journalist Matt Law had mentioned West Ham in a recent podcast appearance, social media quickly jumped the gun by incorrectly linking the Irons with the Senegalese striker.

As it turns out, Law’s comments were actually about another Chelsea player, and Jackson’s name was never brought up. So despite strong online speculation, West Ham are not in for Jackson at all.

Matt Law’s Quote Misunderstood: No Mention of Nicolas Jackson

In his appearance on the “London Is Blue” podcast, respected Telegraph journalist Matt Law spoke about West Ham holding interest in a Chelsea player, but it wasn’t Jackson. The focus was on midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

“West Ham I think have some level of interest in him,” Law said during the episode. He mentioned that a loan might appeal to West Ham, though Chelsea are thought to favour a permanent move.

Jackson was never referenced. Still, some social media accounts picked up the clip and wrongly assumed Jackson was the topic, completely missing the mark.

Social Media Hype Around Jackson Transfer Is Based on Error

Shortly after the podcast aired, several fan accounts started circulating comments suggesting that West Ham were eyeing a move for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson. Some even added stats and tactical breakdowns to justify the transfer link.

At this point, there’s no evidence to support any of it. While Jackson scored 14 Premier League goals last season, he’s also been criticised for inconsistent finishing, and there’s talk he could lose his place under new Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca. But none of that has anything to do with West Ham.

Even Aston Villa, who were mentioned as potential suitors, haven’t put in a bid according to Daily Mail’s Tom Collomosse.

Callum Wilson Deal Still on Track for West Ham

Rather than Jackson, West Ham’s actual striker target appears to be Newcastle’s Callum Wilson. According to Hammers News, talks are progressing and the move is down to “just one hurdle” before completion.

Wilson divides opinion among the fanbase, mainly because of his age and injury track record. But with Ings now gone and Ferguson returning to Brighton, Graham Potter’s options up front are limited.

That leaves just Niclas Füllkrug as the only senior striker currently on the books.

Final Word: Jackson Was Never in West Ham’s Plans

Despite the noise online, West Ham aren’t pursuing Nicolas Jackson. The false rumour came from a misquoted podcast appearance by Matt Law, who was actually referring to Chelsea’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

For now, West Ham’s priorities lie elsewhere up top, and Callum Wilson could soon be leading the line at London Stadium.
