Niclas Füllkrug insists he’s ready to play a key role at West Ham United this season, revealing he feels strong, focused, and full of confidence after an intense off-season of personal training.
“I’m in a really good place,” the German striker said. “I worked a lot during my holidays, nearly every day. I wanted to get back to my best. I feel confident I can go on and have a good season.”
Now, with the 2025/26 campaign looming, Füllkrug is doubling down on his desire to make a real impact in east London. After a tough debut year, both he and the club believe it’s time for a fresh start.
West Ham hopeful as Füllkrug looks to bounce back
Brought in last summer for £27 million, Fullkrug arrived with big expectations. A proven goal scorer in Germany and for the national team, he was signed to add firepower to West Ham’s front line.
However, his first season at the London Stadium did not go as planned. Limited by injuries and inconsistent form, he made just 10 Premier League appearances and contributed one goal and one assist.
Still, belief in his potential hasn’t disappeared.
Dean Jones, speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, noted growing optimism inside the club. “There are a few people around West Ham who are thinking, actually, this might work,” he said, also adding that “Füllkrug is in Potter’s good books at the moment.”
That vote of confidence from new boss Graham Potter could be just the spark Füllkrug needs heading into pre-season.

Confidence growing after dedicated off-season
Füllkrug’s determination to bounce back showed clearly in how he used his summer break. Instead of switching off, the striker focused on rebuilding his strength and sharpness, training nearly every day.
His comments suggest a player not dwelling on last season’s struggles, but instead one eager to turn the page and show supporters why he was brought in.
West Ham insiders remain optimistic that if he stays fit, he can be a major asset. According to TBR Football, the club feels there’s still untapped potential in Fullkrug’s game that could shine through this season.
Potter counting on big players to deliver
The upcoming campaign is a fresh challenge for many at West Ham, including manager Graham Potter. With expectations high and fans craving progress, Potter will be counting on several key players to take charge, Füllkrug included.
“He has to start well,” Jones said on the Ranks FC podcast, hinting that the striker’s early-season form could be crucial in shaping the team’s momentum.
With training set to ramp up and pre-season fixtures on the horizon, all eyes will be on whether Füllkrug can carry his good feeling into performances on the pitch and finally hit his stride in claret and blue.
